What Can a Site About Alaska Education Do
For YOU???
There
are more than 10,000 people directly employed in education in the State of Alaska.......but
getting hold of them??? Not so easy. Yet there are times when getting together is crucial, either to share
ideas or organize into the force we should be. This site is meant to
help that happen.
How It Works......
The
feature at the moment is the Forum. It is simply a place where you can
read opinions or ideas of others, and post our own if you wish. I find
that many teachers are unfamiliar with on-line forums, but you really should
try one out. They are all over the Internet on all kinds of
topics. It's a great way to stay in touch with people that people that
have some common interest.
What Do You Do??
Click
on the link for the Forum. It will take you there. Start clicking
around....you can't hurt a thing. It's organized into categories,
topics, and threads. You can read any of it, but if you decide you
would like to post a message yourself, or reply to one, you need to register
first. You fill out a form. You must use a valid email
address. You'll get a confirmation email with a link you click on and
you're in. Even if you don't want to post, registering will help the
site out.
Fill Out a Form???
You
can choose a "user name" without revealing your real name if you
like. Most information is optional. The email has to be real, as this
does give us some idea you're a real person. Also, I will occasionally
send an email if something of interest is happening on the Forum.
And Then??
Well.....the
Forum really needs a substantial number of people to be interesting.....you
would still be among the first! If you know people around your district
or around the state that you might want to engage in a conversation, this
would be a place. The goal is educators talking to each other about education....or
anything else as well. At some point it will become incredibly popular,
I'll sell ads on it, and build a condominium in Hawaii that you can all come stay
at. No other web site offers that.
Why Is This Here??
This board is my personal project. It is not
affiliated with any district, union, grant program
or other activity, though it is open to their participation. I'm doing
it because I think there is a need, and there is no other vehicle that I can
see. Some people will look and be reluctant to post. I hope they
come back a bit later. Some people will see the opportunity and step up
and start a thread. Thank you. In either case, please feel free
to offer criticism, suggestions, or help. Certainly don't feel like you
need to agree with me to be welcome. Feel free to suggest ways the
board can help you or a group you are part of in particular. My hope is
that people will come for many different reasons,
and come away with many different benefits.
The views expressed on this board are those of the
individuals that have posted them. Statements that are libelous,
